A Dual-Purpose Ammo Box Built for Sphere Resources

A box goes from being disposable to becoming meaningful when it becomes a part of the user experience.

That idea guided the partnership of Custom Designs Boxes with Sphere Resources. Their objective was to design a box that embodied accuracy, performance, and creativity rather than merely packaging ammo. Each and every element was created to ruminate the performance standards that their clients rely on. As a result, the packaging has a deliberate, refined air to it, making a statement before the product is ever opened. 

It was evident from the first discussion that this project needed more than just printing. Yes, it required careful engineering, innovative problem-solving, and a willingness to reconsider the potential of packaging.  

Challenge

Ricardo Hoss had the design concept and artwork in hand when he reached out to Custom Designs Boxes, but he had to find a collaborator to make it into a high-performing product.

To put it briefly, it can be quite difficult to translate artwork into a robust, useful box that is appropriate for the ammunition industry. Making a box that was as precise as the ammo it contained, arrived sooner than anticipated, and met or exceeded practical and aesthetic requirements was another difficulty. 

Accuracy is important! Integrity of structure is important! After all, the packaging must immediately stand out in a crowded market. Ricardo wanted a solution that would be able to withstand practical use while still adhering to stringent visual accuracy. It was impossible to compromise on color consistency, centered print alignment, or functional coding.

Speed was another consideration at the same time. Timelines for production demanded to be accelerated without compromising quality. 

Solution

The project was tackled with complete design ownership and technical focus by the experts at Custom Designs Boxes.

Although Ricardo's initial artwork served as the basis, we modified the presentation and structure to produce a tough, polished finish that complemented the brand's character. Durability, clarity, and user experience were given top priority in every design choice. 

The "range-ready" interior was one of the most significant developments. Our designers proposed printing the inside of the box so that it might be used as a shooting range target. This immediately increased the ammo packaging's value for clients by transforming it into a multifunctional tool.

We designed a distinctive tear-away portion to further improve use. The inside target can be quickly and neatly detached by shooters without causing any harm to the body of the box.

By using high-quality silver foiling on words of significance, we improved the presentation's appearance. The packaging's keen, tactical edge from the metallic finish makes it stand out on shelves and brings out the product's polished appearance.

We proved that in the ammunition sector, the box should be as reliable as the product inside by delivering 2,000 unique cardboard boxes with structural tear-away engineering, comprehensive in-house design, and a cohesive functional idea. 

Result

From Ricardo’s perspective, the success was clear: "We couldn't be happier with both the cost and the performance. We've had many positive comments about these boxes."

The finished product was a multifunctional design that strengthened Sphere Resources' reputation while providing practical use. The improvement was immediately noticeable to the customers. Attention to detail was evident in the perfectly functioning code as well as precise color matching and centered printing. 

Speed was also faster than expected. Without sacrificing workmanship, the order arrived sooner than expected, giving Sphere Resources the confidence to proceed with the product launch. The quality established trust right away and set the stage for a long-term collaboration.
